Unsinkable Spirit

I recently went to a Titanic Exhibit at our local museum. It was a very educational and humbling experience to read about the lives of the people who died, as well as the people who survived. I was particularly impressed when I read the story of Benjamin Guggenheim. When he realized that he likely wouldn't survive, he made sure that his mistress was aboard a lifeboat. Then he and his personal valet changed into tuxes and helped women and children board the lifeboats. He was known to have said, "We've dressed up in our best and are prepared to go down like gentlemen." Afterwards, it was reported that he and his valet sat on the deck drinking champagne as the historic Titanic sank.
I was interested in his story and when I got home, I did a little research about him. I found out that he actually was with his mistress (not with his wife) and I was disappointed with his moral standards. Granted- he was not faithful to his wife, but I was still impressed with his character when it all came down to the wire. The man was a millionaire and could have used his wealth to his advantage to get on board. He could have dressed like a woman as some others did to secure his place on a lifeboat. He could have panicked and wailed and complained that a man of his stature should not be left behind. But he didn't. Truly, he went "down like a gentleman".
So my question for you today is this: What kind of a person are you? What kind of character do you have deep inside? If faced with a life-and-death situation, how would you react?
Whatever your answer may be, evaluate whether or not you have an, "unsinkable spirit".
