Don't worry. I know the drill:
At the beginning of the week you decided you were going to exercise 3 times. You decided you were going to read instead of watch TV. You also decided you were going to make your sales goal.
At the beginning of the week you decided you were going to exercise 3 times. You decided you were going to read instead of watch TV. You also decided you were going to make your sales goal.
But then you woke up to exercise.
It was cold outside.
It was warm in your bed.
So you stayed there.
You got home from work and your mind just didn't want to think about anything else, so you ignored the book on the table and turned the TV on.
You thought, "Just 15 minutes and then I will read".
But you fell asleep on the couch.
In the first phone call you were rejected and lost motivation. You kept putting off calling your other leads, and then eventually just thought, " They are going to reject me anyway".
Can you tell I have been through this before?
So many times we want to make changes in our lives, but then we allow ourselves to be the prey of bad habits. The most important thing, in my opinion, about making change really happen, is realizing WHY you are allowing bad habits to eat you alive.
In the moment of decision, it is easy to give into the 'pathway of least resistance'. We are human, that is what we do. Remember that you will fall prey to bad habits because they are the 'pathway of least resistance'. In the moment that you wake up early to exercise, it is more painful for you to get up than to just stay there.
So remember this tool...
VISUALIZE what will happen to you if you DON'T get up.
See your body getting fatter and more unhealthy. If you take control of your mind and feel MORE PAIN by staying in bed... then you will get up and exercise!
Same thing with watching TV and with your sales goals... or whatever goals you make. In the moment of decision, when you get home from work and you don't want to read and just want to 'turn your brain off'... remember to look at the book on the table and VISUALIZE yourself if you don't read.
See yourself just being lazy and not improving.
See yourself doing the SAME thing in 5 years.
This will create enough pain for you to ACT and pick up your book and make those sales calls.
It is always about getting over the 'path of least resistance' and setting in your mind that in order to be the person you want to be, you must actively (in the moments that are hardest) take charge and decide NOT to fall prey to your bad habits.
If you create MORE PAIN by doing your bad habits again, then you will start to create new ones
