Incredible Kids

Calling all moms and dads, grandparents, aunts and uncles, teachers, mentors, neighbors, and adults alike! We all have incredible kids in our lives. Campfire USA started this day in 1996 to honor our country’s children and show they are loved and cared for. It began as an annual letter-writing day to tell a child in your life how much they are loved and appreciated. It is celebrated on the third Thursday in March, but anytime is a good time to tell a child in your life how much he means to you.

· Write your own children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, neighbor, church member, or the child of a friend. Here are a few tips to get started:
o Don’t worry about the length.
o If you can write it by hand.
o Share and offer words of encouragement. (Don’t lecture!)
o Make a list of adjectives that describe the child and build your letter around those things.
o Write about a moment you have shared together

Mail it if you can. Kid’s love receiving mail, even our e-mailing teenagers love to receive a letter in the mail.
Here are a few more things you can do to show the special children in your life that you love them.

· Send an e-mail
· Send a post card
· Send a greeting card
· Call them on the phone or tell them face-to-face.
· Make a cake or cupcakes with “An Incredible Award” on them.
· Deliver a flower or balloon to school with “An Incredible Award” attached.
· Create a fun message in chalk on the sidewalk to greet them as they leave in the morning or return home.
· Have a Pizza Party and have “An Incredible Award” night
· Take them out for Ice Cream or favorite treat.

Don’t make this complicated, just celebrate the day by letting the kids in your life know how good they are, and how much you love them. Whatever you choose to do, let us all communicate to our most precious resource: our youth. How valuable and absolutely incredible they are.
